End of the Year Math Photo Scavenger Hunt

Kids love scavenger hunts and taking photographs. These two math scavenger hunts join those activities in a fun math review of math concepts and math vocabulary around your school. Teams are given a camera (iPad or other technology with photo capabilities) and a scavenger hunt list. Teams must take pictures of the requested items and record information on their sheet. Examples include: Take a picture of your group and write a fractional statement about your group (3/4 are in short sleeves). Take a picture of a rectangular prism. How many faces does it have?

I award points for the groups’ pictures and responses on their sheet. Bonus points are also awarded for creativity and teamwork. For the past two years, my classroom has done this activity as test prep before the big test week. One of my favorite reasons is that it encourages my students to recall important vocabulary and concepts that they must know and if they have forgotten, I encourage them to look at our math wall. It is one more reminder of where those posters are. My students say this is one of their favorite activities of the year. It sets us off on good tone before testing week begins. This would also make for a great outside end of the year activity.

There are two different scavenger hunts for two separate days.
