Equivalent Fractions Games and Activity

2 great equivalent fraction games and an activity for your math centers or as an aid in helping your students master equivalent fractions. I have found that my students need LOTS of reinforcement with this concept and the game cards in this resource are a huge help because of the “fraction picture” that is shown on the back of the cards. Having this reference is a great self-checking tool for beginners.

What’s Included?

Game #1 – There are 2 versions for this game. Version 1 is a beginning level and has the self-checking “fraction picture” on the back of the cards. Version 2 is the challenge level that does not have the picture on back. Print only the version you need or print both for differentiation. Both versions have the game boards, game cards, and answer key included.

Players take turns drawing cards and finding the equivalent fraction on their game board. The first player to fill each box on his/her game board with at least one card in each box is the winner. The other players may check with the “answer key” if they are unsure the fractions are equivalent.

Game #2 – The game cards are utilized for this game too. This game board is similar to Candyland. When the player draws a card, they will find the square on the board with the equivalent fraction. The student to reach “Home” first is declared the winner. An answer key is provided for those times that the “partners don’t agree.”

Activity – Ice Cream Sort – Great for independent work/centers. Students will line up the cone with fractions and find the matching equivalent fraction ice cream scoop. An answer key is provided for self-checking.
