I created these Story Elements match cards to use in my personal classroom as a center during our study of story elements. Many of my students get conflict and resolution mixed up, so this is one more opportunity for them to practice. I have also created cards that say, “problem” and “solution” in case you prefer that terminology. Color or black and white copies are available for you to print. If you would like to print out the black and white copies for your students, you can change the size of the cards when printing so they can have smaller versions to paste on paper. I have also included cards of the same size that you can have your students fill in their own character, setting, conflict (problem), and resolution (solution).

Laminate the sheets and then cut them apart and mix them up. When students match the cards, they should put all of the characters in a row, settings in a row, but they should also match the stories so that it tells the story vertically. See the preview for an example.
